• About Me

I’m an opinionated Grumpy Old Man. I enjoy the intellectual give and take that goes along with that, but have very little patience for stupid people (Note: there is a big difference between “stupid” and “educated”. Some of the stupidest people I’ve ever met have a PhD…). Beside arguing, I like to build things in almost any media. Right now I’m mostly building in wood, Lego, and a bunch of different electronic media. I teach in a number of different venues - from preschool all the way through graduate school. Subjects range from talmud to neuroscience to engineering.

For fun, I like to bash people with swords (OK, so they’re made of foam. It’s still fun). Although I spend a lot of my time in a wheelchair, I manage to keep pretty active (Like bashing people with swords). I am a libertarian, and have a hard time finding anything good to say about government or politicians. OK, politicians might make good sausage, but that's about as good as it gets.

Bush’s Republican Supporters Kill Immigration Bill

Well, it looks like Bush’s Illegal Immigrant Amnesty program has tanked. And it was Bush’s own buddies that pulled the chain. It turns out that Bush has not only managed to piss off the vast majority of the American Public (perhaps that’s why he wants amnesty for 12 million illegals – maybe they’ll like him), he’s also managed to piss off the power players in his own party.

It turns out that the Republican party leadership understands that Bush’s amnesty program doesn’t do anything to resolve the problem of illegal immigration – there is nothing to improve border security, no penalties for illegal entry to the US, and nothing to deter employers from hiring illegals. about all the Bush plan does do (or wanted to do) is give a get out of jail free card to all the illegals that are here – at the expense of the folks attempting to enter the country legally.

So, now that the Republicans have stood up to Bush’s idiocy once, what do you think the chances are that they’ll start standing up to him in an effort to earn a small chance of success in the upcoming elections? Maybe the Bush stonewalling of senate subpoenas, absolute disregard for the Constitution and Geneva convention, and flagrant violation of US laws and ethics has finally made the Republicans realize that their only hope of any success in the next election is to toss Bush out with the failed policies he’s rammed down America’s throat. Lets Hope.
